Michelin-starred restaurants in Portugal
The Michelin Guide has become the most famous restaurant guide, with the world's best chefs competing for its stars. There are 39 Michelin-starred restaurants in Portugal and 32 Bib Gourmand restaurants. Current information for 2024.
Sometimes gourmet tourists complain that Portuguese cuisine, although delicious, is simple and uncomplicated. Perhaps they don't know that there are restaurants in Portugal with original cuisine!
Here is a list of Portuguese restaurants included in the Michelin Portugal 2024 Red Guide, divided by region of the country. Please do not confuse the Michelin star with "Michelin recommended", as these categories even have different icons.
PORTO and the north of Portugal
One star for “Euskalduna Studio restaurant”, chef Vasco Coelho Santos, Porto.

The second star was awarded to “Antiqvvm,” chef Vítor Matos, Porto.

Two stars for "The Yeatman" restaurant, chef Ricardo Costa, Vila Nova de Gaia, suburb of Porto.
LISBON and the suburbs
The first star was awarded to “Sála de João Sá”, chef João Sá, Lisboa city.
The first star was awarded to “2 Monkeys”, chef Vítor Matos and resident chef Francisco Quintas, Lisboa.
One star for the Japanese restaurant “Kabuki Lisboa”, chef Paulo Alves, Lisboa.
One star for the Japanese restaurant “Kanazawa”, chef Paulo Morais, Lisboa.
One star for “Epur”, chef Vincent Farges, Lisboa.
One star for “Fifty Seconds”, chef Martín Berasategui, Lisboa.
One star for the vegetarian restaurant “Encanto”, Lisboa, chef José Avillez.

One star for "Midori", a Japanese restaurant by chef Pedro Almeida, Sintra, Lisbon´s suburb.
One star for "Fortaleza do Guincho", chef Gil Fernandes, Cascais, Lisbon´s suburb.
CENTRAL REGION — between Porto and Lisbon
One star was awarded to “Ó Balcão” restaurant, chef Rodrigo Castelo, specializing in fish, Santarém. The same restaurant also received a “Michelin Green Star”, which means that the cuisine adheres to the principles of sustainability, eco-friendly.
One star for a restaurant in the suburb of Viseu, an hour's drive from Coimbra, “Mesa de Lemos”, chef Diogo Rocha. The restaurant also has a “Michelin Green Star”.
One star for "Herdade de Esporão", at the winery of the same name, chef Carlos Teixeira, Reguengos de Monsaraz, two hours by car east of Lisbon. The restaurant also has a “Michelin Green Star”.
ALGARVE — the southern resort region
One star "Bon Bon", chef José Lopes, Carvoeiro town.
One star "Gusto by Heinz Beck", chef Heinz Beck, Almancil town.
One star "Vista" at the Bela Vista Hotel & Spa, chef João Oliveira, Portimão.
One star "Al Sud", Palmares Ocean Living & Golf Resort, chef Louis Anjos, Lagos.
One star for “A Ver Tavira”, chef Luís Brito, Tavira.
Two stars for the restaurant "Vila Joya", chef from Austria Dieter Koschina, Albufeira.
Two stars for the restaurant "Ocean", at the hotel Vila Vita Parc Resort & SPA, chef from Austria Hans Neuner, Alporchinhos town.
MADEIRA ISLAND
The first star was awarded to “Desarma”, chef Octávio Freitas, Funchal.
One star for “William”, Belmond Reid's Palace Hotel, chef Luís Pestana, Funchal.
Two stars for “Il Gallo d'Oro” restaurant at The Cliff Bay Hotel, chef from France Benoît Sinthon, Funchal. He also has a “Michelin Green Star”.
In addition to the restaurants marked with stars, the Michelin Guide also includes simpler categories, such as “Bib Gourmand” (exceptionally good food at moderate prices) and “Recommended” .
